Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser

Today, students received some information and a pledge package for the Jump Rope for Heart Fundraiser the school is participating in. The assembly today was an interesting and inspiring hour that will hopefully get us towards raising our school goal of $4000 for the Heart and Stroke Foundation. Check out the information package or the website for more information. Please forward all queries to Mr. Schmeichel or Mrs. Berry!

Forms! Forms! Forms! (and the Rocky Mountain Tour Booklet)

Hello students and parents!

The grade 8 Rocky Mountain Tour information night (Presentation found here) was last Thursday, and booklets were made available to each family at that time. All of the leftover booklets for families that could not attend last week were distributed today to students. Included in the booklet are 2 forms that need to be filled out. A third form is going out today for rafting.  In addition, as in past years we are requesting that each student bring between 6 - 12 snacks (cookies, bars, etc).  Please ensure that these are NUT FREE.  If you are looking to contribute something healthier, consider looking through these recipes.  All home baked items should include an ingredients list.  Thank you!

Forms that need to be returned ASAP!

1. Human Sexuality permission form (distributed last week)

2. Rocky Mountain Tour permission form (included in booklet Page 1 & 2, Page 3 & 4)

3. Health Form for Rocky Mountain Tour (included in booklets)

4. Rafting Waiver for Rocky Mountain Tour (distributed separately from booklet, today, April 22)

Please return these forms completely filled out ASAP!

Thanks,

The Grade 8 Team!

Spring Camp Parent Meeting

Hello Students and Parents,

As per our grade wide calendar, our Rocky Mountain Tour Parent Meeting is next week on Thursday, April 18th at 18:30 in our IAC.  All parents are invited to attend as useful information will be given, such as (but not limited to):
-trip overview
-packing list
-a review of mountain weather
-a review of behaviour in national parks and general public areas
-a review on wildlife concerns
-acceptable and non-acceptable items to bring
-menu overview
-a description of our accommodations and amenities
-curricular objectives
-information for parent volunteers
-safety and emergency plans
-how you can contact us

This will also be the unveiling of our much anticipated camp booklet.  If you are unable to attend, these will be given to students after specific instructions are given to them.  There are many safety aspects when going on a multi-day trip such as this, and it is important that this information is relayed to parents and students alike. All forms (Health form, Informed consent, and whitewater rafting waiver) are due April 26th. This is important as our coordinators for whitewater rafting need this faxed in to be processed well before our excursion.

We hope to see you on April 18th at 18:30,

Your grade 8 team
